However, I listen to the entire CD without pause. It is rare that I find a CD like this. If you are at all familiar with this nu-folk or similar music, you are likely to find this music to be far better than the average. This amalgam allows the creation of nu-folk that is enjoyable (like pop), but with enough blues, country, and clever and amusing lyrics to thankfully make it more interesting than the "top 40" type.I encourage you to examine this music on YouTube as it is different than the typical and rather rare. It is a pity that the Sussex Wit, of which Johnny Flynn is but an important component, only has a limited amount of music at this point. It is difficult to find something distinctive and yet joined to familiar music. The blend of acoustic guitar, horns, and strings may not be familiar to some, but I feel it is necessary for dynamic, textured music. I particularly enjoy "Leftovers" since it is so human and also entertaining.
It does not sound like a studio, it sounds like you are sitting slightly off center in a circle of friends. As a field recorder of local folk and Americana get-togethers, I love the intimate quality of this record. This is new "alt" country if you like, and even though the Irish quality proceeds the Americana quality, if you like that type of music this CD will be replayable over and over.

Was very excited to check out all the elaborate album art work on the inside and the detailed liner notes, i.e. The authentic feel of hearing the record "hiss" in between songs combined with the clarity of the modern meets old world British folk composition express what a true album experience is all about. Fantastic record. This LP was shipped very quickly and in perfect brand new condition-STILL SEALED. Not to mention the great music.
A Larum is full of fun songs that never seem to get old. I have become a HUGE fan of Johnny Flynn. I'm hooked on his music and can't wait to hear more from him.
I have a plethora of different styles, but his album will remain on my top 10 for a long time to come. Came new, plastic wrapped an a day early. I love to buy music. Thank you for some great music.now for the shipper.
